Text 7 Jul Georgia trip keeps going…

  • Went to an American Independence Day BBQ, in the Republic of Georgia
  • Stood under fireworks (much better view than from a distance)
  • Appeared in an interview on TV right before both semi finals games of the World Cup
  • Was used in a promotional photo shoot for some sparkling wine
  • Got burnt
  • Got bite
  • Got to party with the first lady
  • Learning Georgian (more than swears)
  • Living up the customs
  • Developing plans for total take over

Text 2 Jul Sometimes, you’re unconquerable.

Your eyes skim across the skin it has seen thousands of times. Each bump, each aberation, each contour and crevice is documented and memorized. Any new freckle or dirt spot is always quickly spotted. There are things that you see so often that you feel they define you, no matter how minuscule. A mark on your pinky, a wrinkle on the inside of your elbow, a pencil lead inside your palm, all the things you see everyday define you - at least in your mind, in some way. But its the scars and wounds that will forever be preserved on your skin that define another side of you. Each inconsistency, each dent, each brand and flaw remind you of where you’ve been, what you’ve done, and what you are or were capable of. They are the curse that never let you forget the struggles that have passed through your life. However, they are the gift that show you that you have the strength to press on.

Text 1 Jul So far in Georgia
  • Took a spin in a taxi that out did the Indiana Jones ride at Disney Land.
  • Been bum rushed by gypsies… multiple times…by the same gypsies… on the same day.
  • Safe is no longer safe.
  • Figured that drinking beer on the streets is too crude, Champagne is classier
  • Churches, churches, churches. Oh, and churches. Wait, what’s that over there, a church? Let’s hit it up.
  • If you want food you get a feast.
  • Rode the Metro. You get two options a train from the 21st Century or whatever the country had before World War 1.
  • Cheese is the bomb.
  • Fresh bread even bombier.
  • Hatchapuri.
  • Hatchapuri.
  • Hatchapuri.
  • Developing heart disease and possible kidney failure.
  • The country is in perpetual hangover, and everyone just looks pissed off.

I’ve fallen in love with this land, its people, and everything else it offers all over again. Georgia will be mine, I promise.

Sometimes all you need to make yourself smile isn’t to talk with them, or hear how everything is doing, but enjoy the silence and just know they’re there.
